2000klから60klに緩和されたことを受けて、
日本各地で地域密着・小規模醸造のビール会社や地ビール工場が
数多くつくられました。

その中には残念ながらクオリティが伴っていない
美味しくないビールもたしかにあったと思います。
そういったことから地ビール＝観光地のお土産、
というイメージがついてしまったことは否めません。

しかし、お客さまは正直です。
おいしくないビールは時間とともに自然淘汰され、
現在製造を続けているビール会社のクオリティは大きく向上いたしました。
日本国産の本物のクラフトビールが誕生したのです。

ただもどかしいことに、クラフトビールは日本でまだまだそれほど多くの人に知られていないと感じています。
いわゆるラガービールの他にも数百以上に及ぶスタイルがあることを知ってもらいたいのです。
それらを知らずにひとつのスタイルのビールしかのんでこなかった人たちに驚いてほしいのです。

The history of locally produced microbrews began in Japan back in 1994, after revisions to the tax laws concerning minimum beer production was lowered from 2000kl to the current standard of 60kl, allowing smaller breweries to enter the massive Japanese beer market.

As can be expected the quality was subpar in some cases, and the initial public reaction was to associate locally produced beers as not much more than an "omiyage" afterthought for domestic tourists.

But the voice of the consumer goes a long way – inferior beers soon died out and the remaining survivors stepped up their production quality, and with that, true homegrown Japanese craft beer was born!

However, craft beers however remain unknown to most of the Japanese public. While most are familiar with the typical lagers, little known are the several hundred other styles of beer that exist out there in our little world. That is where our little mission was born, to teach and preach and blow away all the beer lovers who until now have only known one style of beer.

To do so, Goodbeer Faucets prepared 40 taps of draft, 3 taps of real ale, and an array of bottled beers primarily from Japan and the U.S. for the seasoned beer lover and the newbie alike.
